Acacia baileyana Purpurea or Cootamundra Wattle is a bushy shrub or small tree growing 3-10 meters high. It is easily identified by its golden pom pom flowers and its lilac to blue-grey foliage. A great feature or paddock tree. The tree produces profuse sprays of these small globular flowers in late winter to early spring. The golden-yellow flowers are a striking contrast against the backdrop of the muted foliage. The tree is very hardy and suitable for a wide range of climates. It tolerates drought and frost to -10C. It grows well in full sun to partial shade and tolerates coastal conditions. Keep away from native bushland as these trees can be self-seeding.
